Default burning oil

i have a g reg bog standard 2wd sapphire cossie which has only done 90000 on the clock and has only done 9000 miles in the past 3yrs, i bought it a month age and now it is using alot of oil, i have no leaks and it boosts ok. if any1 has any advice thats would help, i would be very grateful

all cossies burn oil. if its burning lots then something will be wrong in your engine i.e rings etc?

The book says they are suposed to use around a litre of oil every 600 mile

as above - upto 1 lite of oil per 600 miles is normal - and thats when new

open your airbox lid and see if the brerather is chucking loads of oil back up the pipes into the airbox - you couls help matters by fitted a decent breather system, but as aboive also, if its got excessive blowby on the rings, you really need to get that sorted with a rebuild, but if u are not too bothered and just want it to run till it dies, geta breather system fitted.
