escos oil leaks.. help needed
Hi, had oil leak on my 1994 escos. It was coming from cam seals and rocker cover. So I have now replaced the seals and rocker cover gasket, problem is the leaks are even worse. I bought the parts from Woodford's and they gave me an extra 2 seals which are the two O rings. Does anyone know where these go as I have looked through the manual and can't find a place for them? These O rings are the same size as the circumference of the cam bit I am baffled as to where (in between the bearing and spacer etc) they go? Or are they not needed?
Any way back to the oil leak, I don't know where I have gone wrong, I have used all genuine parts and have the manual and also I have recently changed the water pump and cambelt and have noticed the cambelt looks like it has been rubbing against the water pump. Again these were all genuine parts used. Appreciate any help from anyone that might have experienced the same problems. Thanks, George.

I would 100% say the reason its leaking is because you have not fitted the half moons. They go at the front of the engine over the cams they have a small gap for them I think the rocker cover has to. You will have to take the rocker cover off again

those O rings might be causing the leak,i presume they a green O rings?not sure if you have to take the cam out to fit them?i do not think so tho?
Remove cambelt then remove cam pulleys undo the 10mm bolt which was behind then pulley remove cam cover undo the 8mm nuts on the front cam caps remove caps, slide cam races out and you will see the O rings on the race housing!
Did you use sealant on the half moons?what cam cover gasket did you use?

they are all guniune parts from woodfords, half moons are fitted and not leaking from that.
looks as the rocker cover is leaking, which is guniune ford one, so is they any tricks or tips needed to stop this, and cam seals leaking as it has made a bit of a mess.
i did take the cams out to fit them as i was told they had to be fitted before the bearing..., they are black in colour.

the old cam seals i removed where orange, new ones are black. the cam "O" rings are black as well, but where do these go? as i have fitted them to the inside of the cam against the bearing,(had to take the cam out) but now ive been told that 4x4 do not ust the cam "O" ring. these are the small flexible ones.

The o rings go between the bearing and spacer, make sure the spacer is the correct way round the inside is chamfered on the side next to the bearing. if you have removed the front bearing caps then you need to apply sealer between the head and cap to stop oil seeping between. also apply sealer to joint between half moons and gasket (4 places) I also put sealer on inside of spacer finally dont over tighten cam cover bolts, you can split gasket especially cheap ones, hope this helps.
