i bought my fiesta st 6 days ago and now the engine management light has come on. it happend after i tried changing into second from first but car seemed like it was in first still and so on with 3rd and 4th gears untill finally it went into fifth. started it half hour after and car drove fine but engine management light was on the dash board. this isnt flashing. ne ideas if its worth taking to a garage has i know they cost alot to plug into the car to find out if there is a problem. please help

 

To be honest it's probably just logged a fault at the time and it probably isn't apparent anymore. If you are concerned about how the cars driving though do get it in the garage.

But in the mean time if you want to get rid of the light unplug your battery for 30 minutes. (At your own risk though and do make sure you have your radio code.)

It doesn't cost that much to plug your car into a diagnostic machine it's certainly cheaper than at worse a new engine
