Default ka engine swap

hiya

im new to this so please move this if its in the wrong place! I have an st170, but also an old ka 1.3, and have been eyeing up an engine swap to make something a bit different. I was looking in fast ford etc and have seen a few engine swaps.

I know the ka uses the IB5 box, but the mounts appear different to those in the mk4 fez and puma. Ideally I'd like to put a 2.0ltr from focus/mondeo etc in but then would have driveshaft problems. I know somewhere like pumaspeed can do it for me but this is a bit of project and i have loads of spare time.

If anyone can help with which engines are the easiest to put in I'd really appreciate it, hot fav at the mo is a 1700 puma engine with the pssenger side inner wing changed to accept the mount from the puma, do driveshafts go in ok from the puma IB5?

thanks a lot

dave

you can buy mounts to fit either a zetec or cvh into a ka. 1 of mine is a zvh, the other is a cvh.

joey-p makes mounts to put a 2.0 zetec into a ka, and i believe you can use the same mount for a cvh, and if you use a cvh you use the standard ka box and get the bell housing modified so suite the different starter position, if its a zetec block then the starter is in the right place anyway and the box can just bolt straight up.

my silver 1 has just had a plate welded onto the inner wing and a fiesta turbo mount used.

heres my silver zvh 1 which was recently dyno'd at 246bhp and 270lb/ft of torque....

wow thats incredible!

i wanted to put an n/a 2.0 zetec in totally standard for with the theory being if i blew it up, its dead easy to go and find another 2.o lump. Do you know if the 2.0 litre mtx75 gearbox will accept the driveshafts from the ka/fiesta/puma/IB5 platform?

If not, would the hubs need changing to mondeo parts? Or would you need suspension componentry from a mondeo? Or would it be easier to A/ get driveshafts made or B/ use an engine like the 1700cc puma lump that uses the ib5 anyway

I'd love to put a cvh/zvh in put am struggling to afford the parts to get a decent turbo engine together, I was hoping a 130bhp would still be okish to drive? The car is a bit of a cheap project and I've got it stripped and everything, just doing bits as I get 30 quid here and there etc

any help is greatly appreciated and thanks a lot

a 2.0 zetec is a fairly easy swap and is a good base for future power, use the std ka box, shafts, just make a mount for the drivers chassis rail. 3-4 wires and your away

very simple to do tbh i have a few ka's :P

oh kool, so the 2.0 zetec block will mate up to the ib5 box?

and are the ratios in the original 1.3 IB5 ka gearbox too short for the 2.0ltr's power curve?

sorry im nagging lol

Anyone put in a Duratec. Was thinking of Mondeo engine, box and some of the suspension components.
