iv got a mk5 rs2000 with 55k on the clock ive been told off the previous owner that the timing chain needs to be changed at 60k is this true the engine is sweet as a nut no rattles what so ever

Don't bother til 90,000-100,000 at least....be very careful if you're doing it yourself they can be a b**tard to time up....www.rs2000-16v.co.uk is a decent site for info...

Thats rubbish mate. i dont think there is a serice time for the chain. if there is on its more like 120k.

yeah it should last the lifetime of the engine, if its not making any noises then i wouldn't bother

i wouldn,t bother changing a timing chain till it starts to rattle,even then they can go on for ages
