Default OVER HEATING

i have a problem with my escort cosworth, the water pipes r hard and when i try 2 take the top off the expantion tank it blows the water out, when i eventually get the top off the water is bubbling. Also the heaters inside the car are only warm when the car is moving but when stationary they r cold. Any ideas ?????????

it could be a stuck thermostat or blocked heater matrix blocked rad or the DREADED head gasket,COULD be any of these to be honest m8 I wouldn't keep running it as the end result will be the head of due to engine been getting too hot and caused other problems

cheers mate......
but if it was the head gasket i should have water in the oil or oil in the water or it should be using water but it's doing non of these. i have checked the thermostat and its o.k i've also flushed the heater matrix out and that was o.k, plus after the cars been running all of the radiator is the same temp. could it still be the headgasket ???? or anything else ?????

Still sounds like the H/G to me.It is not always the case that you will have oil in water or vice versa as it depends on which part of the H/G has failed.Yours could have failed across the combustion chamber to a water jacket causing the water to be pressurised, hence the bubbles in the header tank and rock hard pipes. It is also possible that you have a cracked head, i hope not though.
If you look at my thread in the Technical section, i've just done my headgasket as it was leaking from a water jacket to the outside edge.I had no oil in the water etc.Al.
