Default ERST Temp gauge Question

I want to fit my water temp gauge so i have a better idea of what temp the car is running at...

My question is where is best place to put the sender.. most are 1/8 bsp, is that the same thread size as the standard one for temp gauge on dash..

I`ll screw it in there if it is as i`m not bothered about the one on clocks working

I'm sure it is if i remember correctly if not you can buy adaptors that go in the top rad hose which will give you 1/8 bsp connection i got one off ebay for about £15 inc delivery
