Default SAPPHIRE COSWORTH 4x4 RADIO "ISO" CONNECTOR?

after removing my standard 1992 spec ford tape player from my sapphire cosworth 4x4 i have noticed the only plugs to the radio are 1x standard ford plug(yellow) which is the power to the radio and 1x small ISO ? style connector which is small and has aprox 9 small pins which looks like a amplifier lead off the older fords. however this car does not have a Amp or equliser or cd player?(not that i can see?) this is giving me problems as i want to fit a alpine cd player but no one seems to do a harness or connector to change this plug to the normall ford style fitted on most fords?? (the 2 yellow plugs) any help or info where to get a lead/connector from would be appreciated cheers.

I had this same problem on my 93 Cossie, if it's the same as mine the cable goes to a telephone interface box which allows the car phone to work through the stereo system. The box is located in the front passenger footwell just next to the glove box.

The standard 8 off speaker wires run into this box and then out to the radio through the cable / plug you describe. I removed the interface box and then just extended the standard speaker cable wires upto my new head unit. From memory the box is brown in colour and has loads of cooling fins on it.

Not sure if anyone sells an interface plug, didn't really look for one when I changed my headunit.
