Default Golf MK2 GTI help!

I know she is not a Ford....sorry! I changed the spark plugs on my 91 1.8 8v Golf GTI MK2 today. I last changed them 2k ago, I know im a bit on top when it comes to servicing!! Anyway I used Super 4 Bosch plugs and have replaced them with Super 4's. When I took the old plugs out they are black, kind of like an oily black and also smell of petrol. Now my car since its tune up has been making popping noises when I ease off the throttle. She has a full s/s Jetex exhaust, K&N panel filter and a Dub-performance chip. Could any of this be causing the smell of petrol and popping noises?

The reason I took it for a tune up was because she had an erratic idle to which the mechanic said the bottom throttle body switch was not closing or something?? Since her tune she does not have the erratic idle any more, instead she makes this popping noise from exhaust, especially bad if ive given her hard throttle then let off.

Any ideas??

sound likes overfuelling to me - probably caued by the chip, depends on how much you want to spend but maybe a proper map would do it good

Defo chronically overfuelling, needs sorting while you still have an engine left!!
