ignition timing xr4i, how too???????????????
ok i had probs starting my 4i after an inlet manifold swap, can anyone give me a detailed description on how to set the ignition timing.
The car wont start when it does its rough.
There are no marks on the distributor and the engine, Help please!!!!!!!

There is as you say no marks on the dizzy, but there will be on the crank pulley.
Just loosen the dizzy clamp bolt(13mm) at the base of the dizzy and YES it is a pain to get to!!
Now do a dizzy swing just try turning it as someone operates the starter, then when started just get it as SMOOTH as possible, let it warm up, disconnect the vacuum pipe(and plug it up), now turn the dizzy until the appropriate marks are in alignement on the crank.
When you loosen the bolt leave it loose enough to be able to turn it, but not so loose that it turns on it's own.
