Rebuilding turboes..
Hey
Went to get 2 turbo's rebuilt at a known company here in denmark, but as it turned out they were totally knackered.. exhaust hausing was cracked, and one of them was eating the compressor housing + the blades was torn apart. Both of the heatshields was destroyed.
That made me think. Those turbo's were from 89'ish and 1 of them had no smoke or play in the shaft, but still they were unusable.
My friend had to pay £642 for a new totally standard turbo, as nothing from his could be used again...
Is this normal? Makes me think again with buying a secondhand turbo..
btw, the guy offered me a garrett GT25R ball berring turbo instead of a standard T3, it was £120 but would require some work to get the manifold right.. Would that turbo be better, I know its ball berring but it looked small compared to the TB0355? Anybody done this?

You can get GT series turbos with T-25 or T-3 style exh. hausing. That I know. So it schould bolt to Cossie manifold no problems. I wonder about exhaust flange and water/oil piping. I have the same problemas you and see little sense in using outdated T-series which are so expensive. But still I'm looking for offers.
