HKS GT2835R turbo - anyone any experience??
HKS are famous for not publishing data and maps for their stuff, so it's all a bit of a guess..
http://www.hksusa.com/products/?id=711
HKS GT2835R - 420 PS Output
COMPRESSOR:
-Wheel- 56 Trim - 53.1 Inducer / 71.1 Major
-Housing- 100 Inlet / 50 Outlet - 0.50 A/R
TURBINE:
-Wheel- 90 Trim - 56.5 Major / 53.6 Exducer
-Housing- GT25 inlet / Outlet spec:
Internal GT28 90 Trim; 0.86 A/R
External GT30; 0.61, 0.73, 0.87, 1.01, 1.12 A/R
Simple question - will one of these with the 0.86 exhaust housing (and external w/g) be useable on a Audi 20V 1.8T race engine for around 350-400bhp, between 1.5-2bar I guess? I'm concerned about the boost threshold on that size exh housing - as it's a race car it doesn't really matter if it doesn't start coming on till 3500+rpm, but will it be around there or appreciably higher? The HKS modified versions are supposed to have better spool than equivalent Garrett GT's but I can't find out how much better.
Also, is this essentially the same as a GT3071R 700382-20? http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob..._700382_20.htm
various sources suggest that it is...
We already have this turbo so would be handy if we could use it, failing that there's the choice of changing the exhaust housing or flogging it and buying something more suitable.
Any constructive input appreciated
Cheers
