mk5 rs2000 engine into a mk3 escort

im doing the same conversion but into a mk4, i stripped a rs2k and kept all the running gear box, loom and ecu but decided to ditch the 2k gearbox as the price for getting the conversion plates made up and driveshafts was what i was willing to pay! worked out as more than a paid for a crashed rs2k! so im using a cvh box and just mating the 2k lump up to it. had a mate go though the wiring diagrams with me and im going to just feed the lives to the ecu via a seperate mini fusebox so that minimal splicing into my original loom as possible as it wasnt much good before as i put a zetec into it and the car was carbed before. mini fusebox cost be about £10 off ebay, is about an inch long and can take 10 fuses.
so what have you heard about the engine mount though as i looked at using a cvh one and found it near enough imposssible to use! easy on a zetc but not fo the 2k becausze of where the oil pump sits so am using the original mount and welding one up from a mk6 escort onto my chassis and then making up my own support bars for it. would be really interested to hear what you have heard about using the cvh mount.
am starting on the 5th of may so can let you know what problems i come across if you want.

yeah decided im gunna stick with the cvh gearbox too but to fit it do you use the cvh flywheel?,a mate told me you have to modify a cvh engine mount to it so just took his word for it,perhaps not then lol!,il be starting to fit mine mid may time so if you can let me know of any probs that will be great cheers adam

well i wondered about the fly wheel aswell, but im runnign a 1800 zetec in the car at the moment (get bored fast have only had in fo comng up a year now lol)
but the flywheel is the same size for that as the rs one so was just gonna use the rs one as it has to fit int he gearbox as the zetec one does.
and was goign to use rs2k clutch on it so will see how it goes!

i used the rs2k one, took zetec and box out together, used the zetec flywheel on the rs lump, mated that to a diesel mk4 gearbox brought them up from underneath to find that i would need to cut the whole engine mounting bracket off the car and grind it back then weld in a new plate in the correct position and make up some supports for it. also had to space the gearbox cradle about 10mm with some spacers, did the same with the anitroll bar and gear linkages so that whole engine and box assebly was low engough for the bonnet to shut propperly. doing the loom tomorrow with my mate then gotta make an exhaust system up and underseal inside the drivers side front suspension turret as whel welding it melted away all the bodysealer and paint. there are pics and more of an explinations that in "members projects" on s2rs.co.uk ( i use the same username)

hey peeps funnily enough i've bought a rs2k mk5 lump and box and a mk3 xr3i will be starting it in new year as the car needs some body work i was gonna use the cvh gearbox as - i've been told - the rs2k gearbox would cost way too much to fit, i've also heard that the mounts are the same but i need a mk6 one somewhere??? not to sure but will let you know how i get on but if anyone gets any info it would be much appreciated thanks
