Default ST170 steering issues

i dont know if anyone here will be able to help but im hoping so!

having steering issues with the ST, it tramlines, sways side to side gently, pulls left one minute then right the next but then it will behave its self for a while.. i put it down to road surfaces at first but its not that, does it more when on slight bends on the motorways..

the rack has been changed as that was my first guess but its not that (i have a spare 170 rack now) all the bushes look/feel intact and servicable and i cant see or feel anything obvious.. its been into kwik fit etc.. who said theres nothing wrong with it, been tracked and tracked again, has the same tyres on each corner and Cough Cough 19" wheels which i think might have something to do with it...

my next step was going to be changing the trackrod ends and wishbones but im edging more towards the wheelbearings now..

has anyone had an issue like this before or have any idea what it could be?

thanks in advance

martin

Tyres have a MAJOR influence on this type of behaviour, try upping the pressure by a few psi, make sure you have the same all round as well.

had them set at so many different pressures mayey..

the car is stripped at the moment so theres on pressure/weight in the back (bout 30psi) the fronts seem to feel best at 40psi which is about right for 19's with 35 profile tyres on iirc?

Some tyres do it some don't it is that easy, as I have found using all different tyres, poly bushes aggravate the situation as well.

oh i wont be going for polybushes with 19's, it seems pointless lol.

had p-zero's, kuhmos, avons and cheapo fullruns and they have all worn on the inner edge so far?....

Unfortunately due to the mcpherson strut design this is often the case, but maybe track it in a bit ?
