Default RST big end bearing replacement

Hi,I want to replace the big end bearing shell's in my RST.Can I do this by just dropping the sump with the engine in situ,or do I need to remove the head and then remove the pistons as described in the Haynes manual????Regards Micky

You can do it with the engine in place.
