Default focus not locking

with the key our lasses focus will not lock
it locks the car then immediately unlocks again
if i lock the drivers door manually with the door closed and then exit the car it will lock with the key
but then it will not allow the drivers door to open when the key is pressed
i was thinking it is the central locking actuator in the drivers door

ps by saying the key i mean the buttons on the original ford key

there is no aftermarket alarm system on this car

any help gratefully received

I'd say you're thinking along the right lines with the actuator, pop the door card off and squirt some penetrating oil in it

As said sounds like one of the master locks is stuck/lazy.

still same problem and now you cant get out the drivers door as the internal handle is in a sort of open position all the time
the mech is working when the door is locked before getting out of the pass side

is it cable operated or does it use a solinoid?

it sounds as if there is asomething just stuk somewhere that's not allowing the door to lock as it's stuck in the open position

have you tried closing the lock with a screwdrivr or the like and seein what part of the door is sticking when you lock it?
remove the panel and you can test individual items to eliminate them from the equation but the first step would be to see if the motor locks/unlocks when it's wired up but not connected

so what happened with this in the end.. bcoz my central locking plays up aswell..
got a 3door and heres a few things that happens.. better to list it i think.
1. from remote it only attempts to lock pass door yet unlocks straight after
2. it will lock from driver side lock yet not passengers
3. once both doors are locked the remote will open/close just the passenger door off the remote
4. it sometimes yet very rarely lets it all work as it should for about a day :/

oh and boot release from inside the car only unlocks when doors are unlocked.. is that normal?

much appreciated.. rob

Sounds like drivers door lock motor. The boot release operation is correct and is an anti-theft measure, ie if you locked the car but left the drivers window open slightly, access could be gained to the boot if it was live all the time.

hmmmm.. theres just so many things that can go wrong though.. think i might replace fuse 63 and reset the siemens central locking module..
if not i'll look into the motor..
