Default Pinto tips and tricks

Hi

I'm fitting a 2.0 pinto into my mk2 1600 sport. I'm down in South Africa so I can't order performance parts from the UK without great expense. Can somebody point me to articles or give some tips on factory parts that I can use to mod the Pinto? I know for instance that one can use pistons from the VW 1800 water cooled engine to do a 2.1 conversion (we don't have the 2.9 ford motor here). I've also heard that 44mm Toyota valves (I'm not sure which model) can be used in the Pinto head. All advice appreciated, thanx!

The normal trick is to use 2.8 V6 pistons, for around 2085cc.
Carbs can be pretty much anything, from 32/36 to 40DFI.
Burtons do a good range, so could at least get ideas from there.
