I have just fitted a cossie t3 turbo to my zetec turbo and after about 2 mins of ticking over i start to get a little blue smoke ,Then if i rev it ,alot more blue smoke comes out, Am i right in thinking this is the turbo.

I have my old erst t3 laying about but i wanna stick with the cossie exhaust housing does the erst t3 fit in the cossie housing , also if it does fit is there any difference in the turbo's or is it just the housings.

 

Prob oil seals .

 

Sounds like the seals are gone, or possibly the return feed from the bearings is blocked.

The RST turbo should fit the housing ok

The RST turbo is MUCH smaller on the compressor side, so will make nowhere near as much power.

 

The oil retun aint blocked and ye i did think it was the seals. now i've made all the downpipe up i think i'll just find another cossie T3

 

They seem to be thin on the ground in good nick, ive been looking for a couple for AGES now with no luck.

 

right my Zetec turbo escort started smoking a little I started it yesterday morning and it was the same . I then changed a few bits over and it smoked realy bad a completely filled my workshop. There is oil coming from were the turbo meets the manifold and from the manifold gasket. I took the head of last night and expected to find something major wrong with the head but no nothing. I did think it was the turbo at first but the exhaust ports on the head are soaked in oil , if it was the turbo how would the oil get back up into the head. Also how did it get so bad so quick.
