Question Hydraulic clutch help

Wonder if anyone can help, my mate has a Mk1 facelift Focus 1.6 ghia and end of last week the clutch started slipping badly mainly in 3rd gear+ but around the same time he noticed that he is leaking a little bit of fluid by the clutch pedal cylinder.

Is this coincidence or do you think that this very slight leak would have any impact on the slipping although I can't see how it would because the clutch still works and you can select gears ok, it just seems to slip.

Anyone got any input or do you think the clutch has just come to the end of its life and he just so happened to notice this slight leak?

Cheers for any help

A leak inside the car like you say will not affect the clutch in this way, it will just make it harder to get gears.
The clutch may well just be worn out, but will need taking apart to find out, and of course a new master cylinder as it's leaking.
