i have not had cam timing optimised for one reason or another.
i have just ran at a rolling road and my manifold got white
hot ( much much hotter than other cars running similar power today)
i know my exh cam is advanced (why it is long story) so will
that make more heat in the manifold and rob power?

 

Yes it will put more heat into the exhaust and cost power, could also burn out a few valves edges as well.
