Default egr

on my mk5 rs 2000 iv been thinking off removint the egr system i was just wondering what are the benifits off doing this and is it an easy job

I did it on a 95 mondeo.
Points to watch, some but not all ecu's will go into LOS mode if lecky part is disconnected(differential pressure sensor).
It gives you a lot better access around the engine, not found a downside yet.
It is put on to help the cruise emissions as they run so lean it puts up the NOX dramatically when you go above a certain temp in the combustion chamber, so EGR was used to effect a cooling of these temps to below the critical point.
