can anyone help me with my xr3 its engine is very unusual need some help its a turbocharged carb (not turbo technics) has an rs plenum on top of the carb been told by a ford buff that its one of only a handfull built at avo in ockendon in essex get some pics up asap

 

yeah a bit rare mate. in 82 and 83 ford ran a couple mk3 escorts in a few rally stages with turbo carbed engines before they used the k jet system av a few pics will av to dig them out and post them.

 

I thought that this was kit that you could buy via the Ford dealer network (a bit like series X).

I think AVO was well and truly closed by the time the Mk3 Escort came out so I think it is very unlikely it was them. It could have been developed by SVE at Boreham...

 

It was by TT, and listed in thier books, but a VERY expensive option so rarely seen.

i defintly know its not tt as it has rs on the plenum cap
the carb is also different as i have looked in both the engine rebuild and mk3_4 books although the engine book doe have a few pargraphs bout this setup
car is currently under reso so wont be seeing any action yet got me mates series 1 and 2 to sort out (u know who you are mixja)
keep the comment comming as i would really love to know how many were made and if anyone is running the same
