Electric windows in an Escort Van
Alright chaps, I come back from the dark side lmao
Right, got my mate with this here Mk5 Escort van, usual poverty spec, but he spends alot of time in it and wants electric windows because he pulls alot and his wrist hurts.
So, here's me breaking an LX with electric windows, chance for a job here eh.
Comparing the two, it's unfortunatly not a case of transferring the regulators and loom and plugging them into the bulkhead connectors, because on the van they aren't there, there's no twist plug on the bulkhead, just some wires, presumably just the speaker feeds as it's not got central locking.
The mechanism looks fine, drilled the rivets out, and had to drill out the cross head screws holding the mech to the window runner because they were tight on and I was just taking the head off the screws (I'll replace them with nut & bolt I think?) also got a rivet punch for popping the regulators and motors back in.
Feeding the door loom through the hole looks tricky but doable with some patience, but just wondering what the loom layout should be inside the car itself to add electric windows to this van that obviously has no wiring for them.
As I say, I was hoping the wiring would be there, just redundant, but alas there's nothing. Obviously I have the switches and everything, I have the whole donor car.
Would the dash need to come out to feed the loom into the bulkhead hole, or would I just get by undoing it on the side and giggling a little for luck?
Many thanks chaps
Matt (Still with the Cav lol!!)
