Fiesta Zetec heater blowing cold
I need some help with the girlfriends car as she is complaining like mad about her car not warming up properly in the morning She drives about 20 miles to work every morning and the temp needle doesn't move above the blue on the gauge.
I changed the thermostat yesterday and the temp gauge now moves to half way on the gauge thought this would solve the problem but heaters are still cold.
The water feed pipe from the thermostat housing to the coolant valve is hot but the hose from the coolant valve to the heater matrix is stone cold. When the ignition is switched on the valve closes but doesn't seem to open when the engine is up to temprature.
Does anyone know what signals the coolant valve to open? as I assume whatever it is not working?
One other thing, does the valve need to be connected or could I just by pass this by joining the two pipes together?

try a new coolant valve these give piles of bother if that doesnt cure it you probably have a problem on the control panel inside but it depends on what year of fiesta it is. mk5s are the worse for it but the 6s and kas are catchin up

Never seen one but the valve can onbly be electrical or mechnically controlled, I would for now bypass it, your g/f can always open a window if too hot, better than too cold!!
It will either be a cable or a electrical solenoid type valve, I have heard of these giving lots of trouble, so most likely is the valve.
Where exactly is the valve, does it have wires or a cable going to it ?
It can only work by restricting the flow of coolant/heat so byassing it will work fine for now, leave till it's warmer to sort it out.
