MK 5 Diesel Escort Glow Plug Time
How long should the glow plugs be on for? I do not have the handbook for this car, so out in dark.
On the dash there is the normal wait to start light on for about 2 seconds. But also there is a red light by the clock that stays on for about 20 seconds. Is that part of the preheat indication circuit? Just now the cold weather is started its being a bitch to start. Any help would be appreciated.

As said red light by clock is for FORD alarm/immoby.
They should certainly stay on longer from what I remember of the one I had about 8/12 seconds.
I always used to give my one two goes on the glow plugs, and this helped immensely, until I used MILLERS diesel cleaner stuff, then it was so much better, did not help as the moron who had it before me fitted a festa 950 battery, so I put in a early tranny diesel one instead.
