Default zetec 1.6 idle problems?

Hi, my bro got an Escort 7 with a 1.6 zetec engine and after he got it from the sprayer a problem accured ie: it won't stay idle and every time you leave it free the engine stops! When I removed the airflow meter a checked wiring ecc and refit again came normal then just some time after just started again. Now I changed the air flow meter with a 1.8 one and when I fitted it came good then after a few miles just started with the same problem again.( When the engine doesn't stops the revs just stay going up and down) What will be the problem? Where can I buy zetec engine sensors? Thanks

Clean the inside of the original MAF and put it back on. Check and clean the ISCV. Check your airfliter is not saturated in paint to.

firstly its a mk6 not mk7, mk7 dosn't exist.

its unlikely to be the MAF sensort TBH.

check the air filter and check for any holes/splint in the pipes.

also its likely the sprayer took the battery off, so it could be the ISCV.

take the battery off for half hour, with lights on so all power is drained, make sure mass air flow sensor is plugged in and after a while put batter back and take it for a nice long drive. 50 or so miles.

Cheers mate I try that one.

Before I always tought that Esc ultimate edition where the mk6 but many experts aragued that it was a 7. It makes sense couse the mk5 is the cosworth 1 shape, then with the oval grill in the bonnet then anoother shape which had different interior rear badge was in the middle and bonnet had no grill but the grill was between the bumper and bonnet any way you how they are, so if the last type was a mk6 then there is two types of mk5?

Just pull the VIOLET 3 amp fuse as this is KAM, and this will make the ecu relearn.
I would in any event clean the MAF with carb cleaner, it will not hurt, especially if it has a oiled air filter such as K&N etc, the oil contaminates the wires in the maf.
If it is still the same clean the ISCV, AND check for air leaks.

the mk5 as you say is the cossie shape and the mk5b is the one where the rear end looks nearly the same as a mk6 rear end but the front is the same as the mk5. mk6 is the one that is the shape of the newer RS2000.

I always thought that about the mk5 shapes but few chaps over here convinced me otherwise but now I confirmed it. Thanks.

Now I will go and try those few tips you guys gave me and try if it work. It has a K&N panel filter btw as you mentioned and the original Maf had oil with the sensor as well! So....

just been at the garage playing with the Escort and the 1.6 zetec. So I cleaned the Maf that it was originaly fitted to the engine and it came a little bit better, but still it was stopping after leaving it free. I noticed that the revs where a little bit low (600rpm) so from that idle screw I put it up to 1000rpm. Till now seems to be Ok, will find out more when it makes some miles. Thanks for the help.
