hi,my girlfriend recently bought a mk 6 escort,the 1.4 cvh efi model as her old rover packed in and we needed something to get us through the winter,running the kids to school ect

problem is once warmed up the car idles quiet low and sometimes sounds like it wants to cut out,it has died once but mostly just sounds like it wants to cut out,i have gave the idle valve a clean out which made it slightly better but not quite the way it should

also it is very bad on petrol,only getting around 70 miled for £20 worth,cant find any leaks at all

ive only ever had rs.turbos and dont really know where to start with these,any help would be greatly apreciated

hi its a cfi...sounds like its realy over fueling i had the same prob you need to take it to your nearus garage and get the emissions done and check all the air pipes for ideling

easy, sell it and buy another car without the cvh engine as its not a good engine.
the 1.3 is a better bet, i got 43mpg out of my old one
