Default Rear pads

Just tried to change my rear pads (2wd sapph cos) and put the new pads in but the piston is stuck and won't go back in all the way meaning I can't get the caliper back on as the piston is fouling it any ideas how to get the piston to move all the way in?

quite right, the piston has to be turned in a clockwise direction whilst being pushed in.
