Just wondering if anyone knows if it would be possible to fit the Focus ST engine into an XR2?
Track car needs a rebuild and got offered the full front end of a Focus at the weekend that has been smashed,so was just wondering if anyone has any info.

Reason being you can put pretty much any engine into any car as long as you have the skill and budget.

It'd be tight I recon, the motor is quite a lot wider than the 4 pots and the engine bay isn't very big, if the gearbox is not very wide you may well fit it in, I'd get the measuring tape out

nowts imposible but id imagine the best way to do it without reducing the structural strength of the front end to much would be to space frame the front end and tie it into a weld in cage. youll need to chop alot of chassis leg out id imagine otherwise.
