torn between two cars?!?! help!
ok, currently have a mk4 escort with a xr2 engine wiv a 4 speed box.
looking to change either to a sierra 2.0 twin cam ghia or an orion 1.8 ghia si 92 model with 130 bhp.
what are your opinions on these? cos i have got a new job where its further away to drive, i want something to be good on a motorway but still good with tuning potential. my bros got a 2.0 twin cam sierra, and it is a nice car to drive etc, but havent met ne wiv a 130bhp ghia orion...so what ya rekon???
take it the zetec is a much better engine?? are the orion brakes good or discs and drums setups likestandard orions??
any info would be gr8. cheers

I had a sierra gt 2.0 dohc and i loved the car mate. It wasnt that bad on fuel either. I had it 3years and it never let me down. The zetec engine in the orion and escorts are a good engine. If i had to chose i would have the sierra.

Those 2.0 Sierra DOHCs are great. Mine used to do 45mg on the motorway and they have much more low down torque than the 130bhp Zetec. They lack a bit of power at the top end but I think this can be addressed by changing the exhaust manifold.
Don't forget the Sierra DOHC was also used in the RS2000 with a 16v head on it, - the 8v piston crowns even have the recesses for 16 valves. You also have a timing chain rather than a belt.
Best one to get would be a Sapphire 2000E or a late Ghia 4x4 with leather, air con and an electric sunroof imo.

Yeh the sierra is the one i would go for mate. I used to go everywhere in my old sierra i spent a fortune on it. I put a full cossie interior in it lowered it and put escort cossie wheels on it. I also took the cat out and put a pipercross cone filter on it 2. I miss that car,i got told that it is in ireland now.
