Default Fiesta Woes

Hi guys,

I have a Fiesta in red like the one below. And...

I havn't been able to drive it for one week now as the indictor lights are not working and nor are the hazard lights. The lights do not flash on the dash, and the indictor doesn't make the clicking noise is usually does.

I searched and saw that if they were flashing fast, this would mean one of the bulbs arn't working, but in this case nothing is.

The rest of the electrics work. exactly as they should.

Does anyone know what the problem is or what I should check?

EDIT: The fuses have been checked by dad already

Sukhi.

Im sure the relay for the fiestas is on the indicator stalks. Remove the steering column covers and im sure it is behind these.

Cheers for the replies!

I re-checked the fuses today and they were all intact and then started pulling the column plastic surrounds off. It turns out the hazards were working, but the indicators were not.

Next was the flasher/sender unit here:

Again, I replaced this and tried the indicators again. They still wern't working but I could hear a noise, almost like the crackling you'd hear when trying to tune an old radio between stations.

I also found that the indicator would work intermitently when I pushed / applied forward pressure to the stalk rather than just push it as normal.

Though after a couple of tries, this stopped aswell

I'm quite confident with working on cars (no mechanic though) but am very bad with electrics.

What do you guys reckon I should be trying after the flasher unit I did today?

I think you may be right.

I was a bit wary of the air-bag side of things and had a slight poke around.

Would I be right in saying the whole steering cover must come off to remover the indicator on these? The manual didn't mention them at all.
