removing a driveshaft
ok,basicly i was replaceing the drive shaft on my mk 2 ford orion and it was all goin to plan until i went to remove it and it slid right of but left the inboard outer part of the joint stuck in the gearbox? now i belive there is a snap ring inside that i have to yank out? there is no circlip on the inboard joint so when i pull the drive shaft it just slips out,how are you supose to get the outer part of the inboard joint out of the gear box? i tried pulling it out with the molegrips but it wasnt having it
nooo its the left hand side, the shorter one.why whats wrong with the drivers side
??? i was planning to change it aswell this week
.yes its a G reg non abs. and yer its the little cup inside the gear box. i did tyy using a chissel and a tyre leaver but they both snapped ??? so yes i will try a crow bar
Because if it was the drivers side the gearbox casing is a bad enough shape, and coupled with the fact yours is a mk2 so the cross member gets in the way aswell = its a nightmare to get out with the box in situ.
Large blunt screw driver or crowbar/pry bar is what you want.
