Default Focus 1800 Idle

Hey Folks,

First post on here and asking for help already. My 52 plate 1800 focus has developed a weird thing where as i'm slowing down with foot on cluch my revs rise up to aboue 3k. Seems intermittent which is annoying. Cleaned MAF out which has helped a bit and checked for air leaks everywhere but still does it sometimes. Any ideas?
cheers

I'd remove the idle speed control valve mate and give it a good clean out

Cheers buddy,

It is something you can clean out then? Never seen one inside before, am I right in thinking it'll be like the MAF sensor with an element you can clean with carb cleaner?

It varies the amount of air that can bypass the throttle flap so it usually has a plunger of some sort, and due to new cars being so environmentally friendly and recirculating all oil vapours and some of the exhaust gasses etc they get gummed up and can stick open.

Sounds good to me, I'll try and get at it this weekend and will keep everyone posted. Huge thanks for your help, nice to find a site where you get an answer other than "it's f**ked mate"
