Check the cps connector by wiggling whilst it is idling.

What he said, these usually get full of water. However, once they start to give problems, it is usually best to replace them .

My cossies crank position sensor was full of water. This was causing faults on my car when i first bought my car. I cleaned the connection out and put electric tape round the connection to stop anymore water getting in.

this is a regular thing on the cozzy and can be caused by bad earths on the inlet manifold and elsewhere on the engine, also the 3 big block connectors at the back of the engine bay are also known to be a cause of this problem, have a check of all the engine earths and open and close the block connector a few times to make a good connection and do the same with the ignition amplifier connector
