Default Very hot s2

Hey

I just can't seem to get my s2 to stay cool. I have changed the thermostat, the rad (twice) just put a new one in last week. And I've changed the waterpump, and the sensor (both new from ford) It's got standard ic, and is running standard boost.

When i drive it at summer it stays above the "N" in normal and when I stop at a traffic light, it goes into the red in like 30 seconds.
When it's winter, like now, and snow and stuff, it stays just under the middle, but still climbs to just below the red at traffic lights.
But the strange thing is that when I start to drive again, it goes from the red and to the middle in 10 seconds..

Someone please help :

I would start by bleeding air from the system, do a search for inst, if not that it's pretty common for the heater matrix to get blocked, are the cars heaters etc working ok?

yeah all the heaters are working fine, but the air coming out of it, is so hot than you cant put your hand infront of it..

What do you mean by bleeding air from the system?

You leave the car idling with the coolant expansion tank cap of until there is no bubbles appearing.

Shot in the dark here bud, but is your fan wired up the correct way round so it actually draws cold air inwards and not hot air outwards.

It may also be a good idea to wire your fan through a relay, triggered by your fan switch to take the power directly from the battery. (Fused of course)

You may find your fan will run faster.

Worse case is that your head gasket is gone or on the way out. Check to see if there is any oil in the water or water in the oil.

Onion: I have checked and my fan does work the right way, but to wire the fan directly to the battery is a very good idea, thnx

Fozy: I have did a test once were they put a thingy, down the header tank, that would turn in color if the gasket was gone.. But I'm beginning to think it has to be the gasket..

Have you tried taking the thermostat out and running it with out one?
I normally end up doing that with most of my escorts for one reason or another
