2 wd head rebuild
Hi, you may have read my previous posts about my slightly smoking 2wd saph. I decided to replace the steam seals myself. so far all has gone well, ive cleaned up all the valves and grinded them in and the head now looks new. The seals are getting fitted on Saturday and im hoping to put everything back together by sunday PM. The only thing is im now thinking should i do the piston rings too? There is no play in the pistons in the block but the car has covered 160k and this is the first rebuild it has has as far as i know. What do you think i should do.
BTW im fitting a GRP a head gasket and a cosmetic rocker cover gasket.

before you fit the seals get the guides checked these are notorious for wearing you only want to take this head off once! also in my experience fitting new rings is not very effective as the bores dont wear in a perfect circle the old rings will have worn to suit. A rebore and new rings/pistons will bring back the compression and sort out oil consumption, prob being the cost of new bearings oil pump gaskets etc. I know i have just done it.
