Default escort gti temp guage

help!!! got a 1998 r reg gti temp sensor literally went bang!! due to a wiring fault on fan wiring repaired wiring to fan replaced engine coolant temp sensor for ecu and cooloant sensor for the guage, fan cuts in at 90c as normal according to wds/ids (ford diag computer) but temp guage goes all the way into red ign on, engine running back to below cold where it remains?? checked voltage to coolant sensor 14v engine running 8v ign on, all wiring seems ok? replaced clocks still no gauge? is it pcm controlled i.e 5volts or should it be batt+ voltage?? have i spiked pcm or fuse box? car runs ok and everything else still works please can some one shed any light?????? Sounds like you have a wiring fault. All the ZETEC sensors are 5v.
