Default T5 Borg Warner gear box

Hey, just a quick question. How do you change the gear lever in a rwd sapphire. Is it just a simple case of removing the centre console, getting all the gubbins out the way and undoing a couple of bolts?

I know with the 4x4 you have to drop the box down a couple of inches but was hoping it would be a straight forward affair with the borg warner. Thanks in advance.

you can take just the stick off as in the first pic,
or
you can take out the whole lot with the other 4 bolts if you need to
should fit up through the hole in the tunnel ok

i've found that to remove the whole stick and plate, obviously you have to undo the 4 bolts, and to do this i need to drop the gearbox crossmember to have enough space to do it. that meant that i had to also drop the exhaust. if you do drop the g/box x-member, don't drop it too far, and support it with a jack and watch out that nothing at the front of the engine goes into the rad.

Damn it. Its not my car but my cousins, he snapped his lever last week. He doesn't do much work on cars so was hoping for an easy job. Thanks for the info.
