Default RS1600i fuel pump

Having very nearly completing the resto on my 16i iv come across a set back, the fuel pump aint working! it works off a battery but not off the loom. iv checked the usual things like connections and earths so can anyone in here help?

trace back from the pump and find where the 12V supply is interrupted

will probably just be a dodgy fuse or relay

i have done, the 16i had a special relay fitted tho. it doesn't appear to be energising at all, all the power connections seems to be fine

I had a mk4 xr3i which wudnt start n it was the fuel pump relay.

so if the relay has got 2 12V feeds to it, then it's either :
1. the relay's had it
2. there's an earth missing
3. the wiring is damaged and won't pass the current required

anyone got a spare 16i relay to try?
or sell? i know they are like hens teeth now!

can i just remind people that the 16i is different to any other ignition system and the if anyone knows how to get round the relay please post it!

IIRC a Mk1 Golf GTi relay is exactly the same and still available from VW

I think they have a timer/prime feature don't they, these k jet stuff ?

i have whipped out the trusty multi meter and discovered the relay is faulty, does anyone have 1? what is the VW part number? yes tabetha its the K Jet system

The relay (pink, 5 pin) will not work without a feed from the coil. Do you have this?

Its a black siemens relay with a 16 amp fuse on the top of it, i can now bypass it but its not safe to run the car that way

starting from the top right 31 brown earth, 30 red live, 31b/1 blue live (to 1 of the coils), 87 red/black (output of the relay(not working)), 15 red live

to help clarify what im on about here are the 2 different relays, the pink is the 1 that is found on the other fords, the black is the 16i relay

So is the feed from the coil working? You can test it with an LED test light or Noid light.
