Default Dash Break Light Not Working ... Mk4 Escort Eclipse

Ok been doing a few jobs and giving the missis Eclipse a look at this morning, all done apart from ... the dash handbrake light indicator isnt working. I thought this could well be a blown bulb , so pinched one off a spare dash i have got the back off and its still not working ... the bulb in looked ok and tried a few others.

Ive had a woddle of all the connections coming from the back of the brakefluid ress and the fuse box but still nothing. Im guessing it could be something around the handbrake lever itself ???

Just wondering if anyone else had any surgestions

Cheers in advanced !

P.S. still not put my hand on the fuel filter for the car !!! could be located underneath ???

As said start at lever or rather the switch, it merely completes a circuit by going to ground, the other side of the bulb being a live, from ignition switched supply, so you either have an earth missing(handbrake side) or a live missing other side of bulb holder, maybe take bulb out and do a continuity test between lever and bulb holder, occasionally it has been known for the wire to get trapped by lever and broken.

Thanks folks ... now then i know my way around the Mk4 BUT ... lol where is the Switch on the handbreak lever your reffering too ? as this sounds entirely possible along with the breaking of the earth of the power wire .. think ill look there next.

The dash display is fine and the bulb is sound , so makes sense as said to check the other lever end.
