having failed its MOT yesterday I have been working through the shopping list on the failure sheet. One of the things on the list for my sapphy cosworth to fail on was leaking braking system.
Question is, what is the purpose of the in line device at the passenger sid e rear of the brakes it is sited just before where the brake lines tee off to the rear discs, this had leaked, couls this have been anything to do with me adjusting the handbrake and having to push one of the rear pistons back in a bit. I took it off today while I was changing some brake pipes and it has a rubber o ring round it with a small machined hole in the body.........beats me what it is (some sort of non return/relief?)

It is a line pressure reducer, you will not have damaged it by pushing the pistons back in.
They do fail in this way.

as said above it is a in-line bias valve to reduce the the braking pressure to the rears my was also leaking got another from pete ashfield off here or you could try paul @ north york spares
