If bolting it to an otherwise unchanged engine, it will make peak boost around 5Krpm.

This is of course fully dependant on the engine mods and boost required andsurge probably WILL be a large problem.

ok by surge do you mean nothing till 5k and then it would spin the wheels?

come on stu what would you do in my situatiion? fit the t34 with .63 or go for a t4?
ive never drivin either so dont know how they behave?

the spec on the engine will be, 4x4 pistons, cometic gasket, head work, lightend and balanced bottom end. running greens at the moment but looking at going blue or grey in the near future oh and probably bd10's also.

In that chassis id go T34.63 cos its laggier than a.48 which will actually help the chassis and its good enough for 380+ which again in that chassis is going to give BIG performance.

Surge is a big problem and has nothing to do with traction, its down to the T4 actually being totally unsuitable for a YB engine.. lol

What mods are needed to get the t4 to spin earlier ?

Free flowing exhaust and manifold, filter swap ....

I picked up a modded sapphire with a t4 and it spun from 3k

ItalyCos,
Hi,
The T4 will always spin much earlier, i was talking about peak boost and torque. Generally, if were running high boost on a T4 it will surge low down and we have to use boost control to keep the pressure low till higher revs.

Hope this helps.

what you said about keeping the boost low on the t4's is this what the air injectors are used for?
does sound like the t4 would be total overkill for the westy

Yes mate, exactly that

They are also more controlable when it comes to STOPPING a T4 making any more boost, which is actually quite awkward..LOL
