Default TICKOVER PROBLEM

HELP! I own a 1994 1.6i 16v Escort. Just had some minor welding done for MOT(floor near sill/seatbelt fixing)both sides.Disconected +side of battery. The car was lifted up at rear about 20 degrees so my mate could weld it from underneath.Since then I have been having problems with tickover, sometimes engine hunts below 1000revs,sometimes cuts out.The car drives perfect apart from this problem.Any help would be appreciated.

hi, i realy dont see from what you say that this problem is at all related to having welding done to your car, if the battery was dissconected it shud be fine, id change plugs and leads!!

is this possibly an ecu related problem? may have been caused due to the battery being released. im not too good on electrics myself so am not going to beable to say what it is. but has to be electrical.

what about adjusting the idle control valve?
