Bought a recon T3 via fleabay recently, it had obviously never been near a car as it looked spotless...





Thing is, I put it on a brand new ERST setup in the Fiesta Pop Plus, and it boosted for about 15seconds. Then all I got was a whining noise.

It looked brand spanky new when I got it, and it had NO play whatsoever, so I believe it to have been a pukka rebuild -- it still has no play in any direction.

Where is the boost going?

It has got me stumped. Is it worth a rebuild kit?

you don't have any boost? Did you check you boosthoses,incooler & plenum for signs of leak?

 

Yup, no leaks, stuck an old T3 on there, and it boosted fine.

Very very puzzled.

 

is the exhaust turbine spinning when u spin the the turbo from the inlet side

 

It all spins fine together. It looks perfect apart from the the fact it doesn't boost.

 

have u tried swapping over the actuators?

 

Yup fella, swapped everything over, like for like.

But I will give it one last chance.

Will try it again in my present 2.1 ZVH setup

Will keep you posted. But I don't hold much hope!

 

So you know the shaft isn't snapped?

And you've swapped the actuators.

What about the wastegate penny? Are you using the same elbow on both turbos? Did it produce from the exhaust smoke at all?

 

check for any swarf etc etc in thr waste gate valve
