You need to check the power at the ecu and the relay that feeds it.

check that fuse 41 is not blown, as this fuse is the feed supply to the fuel injection relay
the fuel injection relay also powers the fuel pump relay so the fuel pump will not operate without the fuel injection relay working.
next is the 6 pin rectangle block connector on the bulkhead ,the red wire is the injector supply to all four injectors, check for power at this point. you should also have power at pin 20 on the ecu block connector.
the fuel injection relay if my diagrams and memory are correct is located on the relay bank holder under the dash on the l/h side behind the glove box which you simply grasp an pull sharply out of its pivots.
its designation is P2.
terminal wireing is

86------------black (ignition switch supply)

85------------blue & green (earth through pin 10 on ecu)

87------------red ( to the fuel injectors) also blue and black ( to the fuel pump relay)

30-----------red & white (supply for injectors and fuel pump relay from fuse 41)

good hunting

fitting the phase sensor the wrong way will not affect the ECU

don't bother sending off your ECU if you haven't got 12V at the injectors - check out the fuses/relays first - the ECU switches the earths for the injectors, which should have 12V to them all the time with the ignition on
