Default engine cuts out?!

hi guys, went for a drive lastnight and all was fine, after about an hour the car just cut out. all electrics remained intact but the engine simply died, no shudders like a stall or fuel shortage, just quietly stopped turning over?

not quite sure what it could be, any ideas?

It died, but what was it like when you tried to restart it ?
You need to determine if it is electrical or fuel, ie are you getting a spark firstly.

just switched the ignition on and off and it came back on straight away, the car is a bit of a slow starter anyway, think the battery is a bit old.

yeah mate the car runs fine, when it has cut out you just have to turn ignition off and then on again and it fires up, just not sure whats causing it to cut out in the first place though. its only just started last week, done it 3 times so far.

car was at msd last week, was chipped, new cam, increased boost to 18psi and had an oil change if that gives any clues?

you need to establish if its losing fuel or spark

for it to cut out you're either losing ignition spark or fuel into the cylinders, so you need to fault find and see which of the two is being lost, you will be just guessing if don't try and find the fault logically.

spare spark plug in a HT lead to test for spark, testing for fuel will be a bit more tricky.
