Default ignition problem - tempremental

hi all, have a problem with the ignition. sometimes the car starts fine, but a lot of the time when i turn the key, nothing happens at all except fot the battery turns on, the elctrics turn on, and i can hear the fuel pump engaging. but if i turn the key, nothing even tickes over. then as i keep trying itl randomly work with help of the throttle.

any ideas??

If it's a focus, a new ignition sswithc as they burn the contacts inside the sswitch itself, other wise you need to determine if it is the switch or the starter, test light time!!
