could be a number of things but it doesn't sound good.

Suspects would be headgasket and/or a blocked rad.

they usually come as a pair though, and if the radiator is blocked and the headgasket hasn't gone, i doubt it'll be far behind

as above probably a blocked rad or seized thermostat , if it has stood for that long and not started there will be all sorts of crud in the system , take it to bits and give it a good flush out and get a new thermostat

oh and prey its not your head gasket

I wouldnt risk it personally until its fixed, you're asking for trouble otherwise.

New headgasket or not, if its over heating it won't last long!

Hard to say mate, if it was the temp sender i'd expect the gauge to not work at all/read eratically, if its showinf the engine is too hot then i'd say its accurate.

Could be your water pump, dont really know of any way to check it short of removing it though

Hmmmmmmm, the head has probably cracked for a reason!

I would seriously be looking at your radiator, it sounds very suspect to me.
