Default help with wire rung block?? please

hi to all , ok well here goes in jan-feb i was haveing trouble with leaking water ,so i took to bits and done the core plugs on the head exhaust side
then put back together an the was no leak from under car , but still loseing water, after a compresion test wich was all good, the was water in 3+4, so i took the head off , head gasket was broken in a few places but when i had a good look thismorning ,it has a wire rung block, however the was no wires in it????? can anny 1 give me anny info on this system were can i get some wires from? is it a standard size that is the same to all blocks or does it depend who done it? cheers Gary

My block is the same, the headgasket lasted 3 years before it died.

The idea behind not using wire is that the fire rings on the gasket bite into the groove in the block to give a good seal.

my understanding is that you either use wire, or don't use the block at all!

it does depend on who did the wire ringing, but it is a fairly simple process. you just need to get the correct sized wire ( mig wire i think ) and make sure it fits nice and doesn't protrude too high from the block, that said it needs to be done correctly and if you aren't confident you need someone to do it for you.
