Default 1600 ZETEC

I have a 1600 zetec black top that i am wanting to fit to my rally car. I am looking for 150-170 BHP. Is this achieveable? Would cams, carbs and an ignition only management system get me there? I would like to fit bike carbs as this is the cheaper option. Is there any draw back with this or are 45's the better way to go?

Why not just go all out and fit a 1.8 or 2.0 litre if your looking for big power?

The 1.6 heads are very restrictive and have small valves

I want to stay in the 1600 class. I didnt think 150-170 was big power! Will change the head for a modified one if i have to but was hoping that i could do with out it to get these power figures.........

the 1.6's are only what 96ps is it? A good 10% or so down on the 1.6 CVH so that has to tell you something

Looka round for the specialist Zetec sites and you'll see the complaints about the 1.6 engines, i believe the 1.8 & 2.0 share the same heads although i could be wrong.
